Chalmers Scores in OT for CC

- Senior Eli Chalmers fed Patrick Mitchell for the game winning goal 3:40 into the first overtime period to give Churchville-Chili the 12-11 win over Williamsville North.  Tonight was opening night of the new Saint’s turf field and Chalmers was a demonstrative force; he finished with 6g-3a and was a part of 75% off all Churchville-Chili goals.

Mitchell, in addition to the game winning goal, scored the game opening goal.  0:32 into the contest, Mitchell scored off a feed from Brett Seaman to put the Saints up for the first time.  Three minutes later, Conor Murphy tied the game at 1-1.  Murphy led in scoring for the Spartans with 5g.  Braeden Schmidt scored unassisted for the Saints just over one minute later to put them back on top.  The Spartans kept up their pressure and scored three straight goals in 1:43 to take their first lead.  Tyler Zeplowitz, Brian Patterson and Murphy each scored one goal for Williamsville North.  The Saints could not be held down and added four of their own goals before the quarter expired.  Churchville-Chili led 6-4 after 12 minutes.

The second quarter began with Williamsville North scoring back to back to tie the game at 6-6.  Own Cooney scored the sixth goal with 6:38 remaining in the half.  The third, and final, goal of the quarter was scored with Mitchell assisting Will Zimmerman with 1:31 on the clock.  Churchville-Chili led a slight 7-6 win at halftime.

The third quarter was much like the second.  The Spartans tied the game and Churchville-Chili responded.  After tying the game again with 4:46 remaining, the Spartans scored again 43 seconds later (unassisted by Murphy) to go back into the lead for the second time in the game.  They held on for three minutes before Chalmers tied the game for the seventh time.  The third quarter ended at 7-7.  Seaman scored his first goal off a feed from Chalmers to open the final quarter.  Once again, the Spartans failed to be kept down and scored back to back to take their third lead of the game.

Williamsville North held that lead for seven minutes and time counted down.  Chalmers finally got one past the keeper with 1:17 remaining in regulation.  The final eighty seconds saw neither team able to score and the game went into overtime.  The lack of scoring continued for the first three minutes of the first overtime period before Mitchell’s goal.

Leading in ground balls for the Saints was Mitchell with 6.  Schmidt finished 6/8 at the face off with 2 takes.  LSM Kenny Carr also recorded 2 takes.  In the cage, Mitch Marsh finished with 9 saves. Scoring for Williamsville North were Conor Murphy (5g), Tyler Zeplowitz (1g), Juan Antonetty (2g-1a), Brian Patterson (1g), Owen Cooney (1g), Joshua Dziama (1g).

RH Holds Off Livonia-Avon Fourth Quarter Push

- After leading for the majority of three quarters, RH had to fight back in the final five minutes to defeat Livonia-Avon 10-9.  The Royal Comets had not scored in over 12 minutes when Nick Cowie scored the game winning goal with 0:17 left in regulation.

The Lakers started off strong in the opening quarter.  Ryan Lambert scored the game opener off a feed from Matthew Connor 3:33 into the contest.  RH responded with Gunner MacMillan scoring to tie the game for the first of five times throughout the game.  The team continued to alternate goals with Livonia taking the lead and RH forcing the tie.  Lambert scored his second goal with 4:30 remaining in the first quarter to take the lead for the last time.  The Royal Comets scored back to back goals to take their first lead in the game off scoring from Afton McKenzie and Zack Lenhard.  RH led 4-3 after the first 12 minutes.

The Royal Comets kept up the pressure in the second quarter and outscored the Lakers 4-2 to increase their lead to a game high three goals (8-5).  In the second half, Livonia-Avon slowly fought back and scored four the next five goals.  Reverdy Clarke scored back to back goals in third before Lenhard scored his fifth of the night to maintain a two goal lead (9-7) after three quarters.  Lenhard (5g-1a) was a part of 6/10 Royal Comet goals.

The fourth quarter was similar to the third with Livonia-Avon scoring back to back goals; however, this time they forced the tie with 5:39 left in regulation.  The Lakers never got the last goal to take back the lead and Cowie scored with time expiring off a feed from Lenhard.  With the win tonight, RH moves to 3-0 and Livonia falls to 2-2.  Both of the Laker losses have been single point games (AQ-12 vs. L/A-11 on Thursday).

In the cage for Livonia-Avon, Isaac Sweet recorded 4 saves.  Defenseman Caleb Gardner led in ground balls with nine and takes with 4.  Clarke, in addition to his 2g-1a, also recorded 3 takes for the Lakers.  For the Royal Comets, Cameron Kuzniar finished with 12 recorded saves.

Pittsford Falls to St. Joseph

- After a close three quarter, St. Joseph’s Collegiate pulled away with eight unanswered goals spanning the third and fourth quarters to defeat Pittsford 12-7.  The Marauders were led in scoring by Evan Mulderig with 5g-1a.  He played a role in half of the St. Joseph goals.  Pittsford was led in scoring by Ryan Dumont (2g-12a) and Sonny Imburgia (1g-2a).

St. Joseph set the pace of the game with the opening goal just less than 4 minutes into the contest.  Kellen Pulera scored unassisted for the Marauders, Pittsford responded with Sammy Thomolaris scoring unassisted two minutes later.  The Marauders then scored back to back goals to go up 3-1.  Both goals were scored by Mulderig.  The Panthers kept up with the game and scored two unanswered goals to finish out the first quarter.  Ben DiGiovanni and Dumont each added one.

In the second quarter, the Marauders scored the only goal with Kellen Pulera scoring off a feed from Ryan McGorry.  They held a 4-3 lead at the half.  In the third quarter, Pittsford came out swinging and scored three more goals.  Dumont scored the first and Harrison Cross scored the second and third.  The Panthers scored five of the last six goals to move from behind down by two to up by two (6-4 with 7:10 remaining in the third quarter).  However, the Panthers then went on a dry spell and didn’t score for the next 17 minutes.  St. Joseph added two goals to end the third (and tie the game at 6-6).  They then opened up the fourth quarter with six goals.  The final goal of the game was an unassisted score by Imburgia with 1:48 left on the clock.  As a team, St. Joseph did well at the face-off and finished 18/22.

Scoring for St. Joseph’s were Evan Mulderig (5g-2a), Kellen Pulera (4g-1a), Hunter Parucki (1g-1a), Ryan McGorry (2g-2a), Trevor Galante (2a), Trey Gehen (1a).
