Two Late Goals Give Aquinas the Win

Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: Livonia-Avon travelled to Aquinas tonight in the closest game of the day. After a 3-3 tie at the end of the first quarter, Livonia scored three unanswered goals to lead at the half 6-3. Full Story

Fairport scores last three in win over Pittsford

Fairport had a strong showing in three of the four quarters in their 10-7 win over Pittsford.  The Panthers kept the game close and led at two different points before Fairport scored the final three goals of the game to secure the win.  Attackman Jackson Monte had a strong game for the Red Raiders with 2g-2a as well as opening up a few other goals for the Fairport offense. Fairport Wins First Meeting with Pittsford

Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW:In one of the few non-mismatched games this year, Fairport travelled to Pittsford in what the preseason coaches' poll said will be the Class A finals and as they predicted, Fairport won this one, but despite the 10-7 game it really could have gone either way. Little Irish win over Haverling 11-9

Aquinas scored the first four goals of the game and held off a late push by Haverling to defeat the Rams 11-9.  The eleventh goal was scored as time expired, and Haverling was in the game until the final seconds.  There was standout play by Joey Sciortino (3g) and Zach Kelsey (2g-4a) for the Little Irish and Brady Dickson (3g-1a) and Jamie O`Neil (1g-3a) for the Rams. Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: The season is one week old and there continues to be many mismatches. There were two more shutouts today, but the Penn Yan at Geneva was exciting for most of the game and the Aquinas at Haverling could have gone either way. Full Story

Herod Scores Game Winner With 8 Seconds On Clock

In a rainy-muddy game played on Thursday afternoon, Marcus Whitman’s Ryan Herod scored the game winning goal with 0:08 left on the clock to give the Wildcats an 8-7 win over Wayne.  This was only the second time in history that the Wildcats had defeated the Eagles (the last time was 2012).  Herod was demonstrative in the game and finished with 2g-3a.  For Wayne, Nate Michel was equally as impressive with 3g-2a.  The Wildcats increased to 4-0 on the season with Wayne recording their first loss (2-1).  Both see action again tomorrow with Wayne facing Mynderse and Marcus Whitman facing Gananda. Thomas, Spencerport and Penn Yan Win

Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: Webster Thomas scored the first goal of the game and although Fairport quickly tied it, the Titans went ahead early in the second quarter and never gave up the lead in their 7-5 win at Fairport this afternoon. The spectators saw a very defensive game with Titan senior goalie Ethan Ruller making All-American saves and Fairport junior goalie McLean Ralston making 12s (63%). Full Story

There were sixty-one games played lsince the start of games on April 29th and although there were some exciting ones the majority were mismatches, demonstrating that some players worked more than others in the "year without games". With travel concerns at the moment there are only eight out of section games scheduled and four have been played. Section Five has won all four. Full Story

Penfield Wins in Overtime

Monday: DAY IN REVIEW: It took overtime for Penfield to defeat The Panthers 12-11 tonight on the road. With Pittsford up 11-7 at the top of the fourth quarter but starting with 5:08 left in the game, Penfield scored four unanswered goals to tie the game at 11-11 with 2:11 left. With 2:04 left in overtime, senior attackman Sam Cummings scored the game-winner with an assist from Jake Fox. Cummings ended the game with 4g and senior midfielder Chris Smith added 3g-2a. John Richiusa gave the Patriots lots of ball time as he won 23/27 faceoffs. Pittsford senior attackman Harrison Cross led scoring with 2g-2a and junior James Cook added 3g for the Panthers (2-2) who will play R-H on Wednesday. Penfield bumps to 4-0 and will play Canandaigua on Wednesday.[BOX SCORE] Full Story

Mynderse Gets Win from Midlakes-Red Jacket

Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: Mynderse scored first and shutout Midlakes-Red Jacket for the first half, on their way to a 5-3 win on the road. It was the first win for the Blue Devils this season and avenged their earlier 6-2 loss when they played the Eagles on May first. Junior midfielder Mitchell Dekanski led the scoring with 3g and freshman midfielder Dylan Tandle added 1g-1a. Senior goalkeeper Gino Poretta had 15s/3gs (83%) for the winners who will play Waterloo on Thursday. There was no report from Midlakes-Red Jacket at post time. [BOX SCORE] Full Story

Victor over Fairport, Brighton over Schroeder

Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: Senior faceoff specialist Logan Callahan gave Victor a big advantage in ball time as he won 14/18 draws to help the Blue Devils beat Fairport 10-6 this afternoon. Callahan, who in three games this season has won 58/66 (88%) faceoffs also scored 2g-1a. The game started even, with three ties before Victor took a lead at 4-3 and did not let go. Senior M/A Cal Lambert led the scoring for the Blue Devils with 3g-2a. Senior midfielder Alex Seiler added 2g-1 and five other players scored one goal. Fairport sophomore A/M Jackson Monte led in scoring for the Red Raiders with 2g-1a. Fairport (2-2) will play Penfield on Friday while Victor (3-0) is playing Irondequoit. Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: In what may be one of the best first halves of the day, Wayne defeated their hosts, Aquinas 10-7 after six lead changes. The two teams exchanged scoring throughout the first and second quarters and were 6-6 at the half. Full Story

Penfield Over Fairport in Double OT

Friday: DAY IN REVIEW: UPDATED Penfield scored the last four goals in their 9-8 double overtime win against visiting Fairport tonight. With Fairport up 7-2 with 2:30 left in the third quarter, Penfield scored seven of the last eight goals. Full Story

Monday: DAY IN REVIEW: A nine goal second quarter led to a 12-2 half as Spencerport (7-0) posted an 18-4 win for the Rangers over Aquinas this afternoon. Connor Mesh had 3g-3a and won 13/14 (94%) faceoffs and Justin Schnauber added 2g-3a for Spencerport.  Full Story

Marcus Whitman Over Geneva

Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: Of the six games played today, only one was close with the rest of the winners outscoring the losers 110-13. Marcus Whitman (8-1) played Geneva (6-3) to a 9-6 win on the road after the teams had four lead changes. at 7-0. Full Story

Monday: DAY IN REVIEW: Senior attackman Brady Knauf scored the last of his 5g-1a in the second overtime period to give Gates Chili a 12-11 win at Gananda tonight. Meanwhile, in Canandaigua defense was the name of the game as the Braves defeated McQuaid Jesuit 4-1. The other seven games were mismatches in which the winners outscore their opponents 105-24. Haverling Over Geneva - Pride over Mynderse

Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: Bloomfield-Honeoye scored four goals in the second quarter on their way to a 6-5 win over visiting Mynderse. Pal-Mac scored seven goals in the third quarter to beat Livonia-Avon 13-10 on the senior night in Avon. Haverling scored seven goals in the second quarter on their way to a 15-10 win over Geneva. Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: The only game that was close today was the one the everyone was talking about all season, as two undefeated teams met and only one would continue with the possibility of a perfect season. In the end, Webster Thomas scored four goals in the final quarter to score a 7-5 victory over Canandaigua. Full Story

Haverling Takes Pal-Mac 10-9

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: The game of the night was Haverling at Pal-Mac where the teams were tied eight times. Haverling broke the last tie when Ezra Hoad scored the winning goal giving the Rams a 10-9 win. Drew Smith score four goals in the fourth quarter including the game winner to give Gananda the 9-8 win over Midlakes-Red Jacket. Full Story

Victor Takes Thomas to Remain Undefeated

Friday: DAY IN REVIEW: In another exciting game, Victor beat Thomas with three goals in the last quarter to remain undefeated with the 9-6 victory at home. Pittsford beat Irondequoit 8-6 with four unanswered goals in the fourth quarter. Four extra goals in the first quarter gave HF-L the win over Rush-Henrietta.Pittsford at post time. Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were just three games in the section today. Livonia beat Wayne despite a strong comeback. McQuaid Jesuit beat Webster Schroeder and Bloomfield-Honeoye was a 14-3 winner over Batavia. Full Story

St. Joe Takes Close one from Fairport

Sunday: DAY IN REVIEW: Fairport travelled west to Buffalo to play St. Joseph at noon today and lost in spite of a fourth quarter surge. St. Joe came out first with two unanswered first quarter goals. They scored four more before the half but allowed Fairport to scored three. Returning at 6-3 after the half the Marauders scored three more while the Red Raiders scored two to make the score 9-5. Fairport roared back with four goals, but The Marauders scored one and that was the difference. Rob Crowley led the scoring for Fairport with 4g. [BOX SCORE] Full Story
