Monday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were two games scheduled for Moday. Batavia-Attica-Notre Dame (BAND) lost a tought oneto Lakes SHore (Section VI). There was no report from East United who was scheduled to play Depew (Buffalo). Full Story

Aquinas Defeats Haverling

Aquinas took over the lead in the third quarter and held off for the last two quarters to defeat Haverling 7-5.  The first half was back and forth before Aquinas scored the final goal of the second quarter and the first two of the third quarter to pull ahead 4-2.  They then held off the Rams press for the remainder of the game.  Jake Reed opened the scoring with an unassisted goal 1:20 into the contest.  Haverling’s Jamie O’Neil responded with back to back goals to put the Rams on top 2-1.  They held the lead for the rest of the quarter. Pittsford Secures 9-6 Win over Schroeder

Pittsford scored the opening goal and although Schroeder kept it close, they never forced a tie in the Panthers 9-6 win over the Warriors.  Pittsford took the game to a 4 goal lead twice, including once in the fourth quarter (9-5); however, Schroeder also brought the score within 2 twice, including once in the third quarter (7-5).  Pittsford face-off midfielder Danny Maggio finished 10/18 with a team leading six ground balls.  Defenseman Patrick Sanna also recorded six groundballs.  Attackman Sonny Imburgia finished with 3 recorded takes for the Panthers.  For Schroeder, Travis Dear led with 5 groundballs.  In the cage, Evan Alfano recorded 13 saves. Irondequoit Defeats Thomas for First Time Since 2012

For the first time since April of 2012, Irondequoit defeated Webster Thomas.  The Eagles took over in the second half and outscored Thomas 7-3 in the second half during their 11-8 win over the Titans.  The Eagles scored five of the last seven goals to move from a tied 6-6 game.  Conversely, the Titans had a strong opener with four of the first five goals scored by Thomas.  Each of the game was scored by a different athlete (Stevie Katz, Evan Pashalidis, Reed Currie, Nick Vasile).  Leading in scoring for Irondequoit was Jack Brennan with 1g-5a.  For Thomas, three different players recorded 2 points. Brighton Over CA and Fairport Over Victor

Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: With scoring by Owen Ronchetti (6g), and Lukas Stanat (4g-2a) Brighton took an 8-1 halftime lead to a 15-5 win while hosting Canandaigua. Alexander Butcher made 8s *67%) for the Barons. At Fairport, Jake Knapp won sixteen faceoffs while junior attackman Colin Peers scored 3g-2a to help the Red Raiders win a 10-9 game with Victor. The Blue Devils held an 8-4 lead at the half, but only managed one goal in the second half. Full Story

Kenmore Wins One from BAND

Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: There was only one game played today. BAND was defeated by Kenmore (Buffalo). Sophomore goalie Brendan Bastian made 14 saves, while Seamus McPhee led the Kenmore scoring with 4g. Next up for for Kenmore is Lake Shore on the 15th. BAND will play East United on Friday. CC Breaks RH Undefeated Season

Churchville-Chili used a strong second quarter to secure the 11-10 win over Rush Henrietta.  The Saints scored the game winning goal with only 0:11 remaining on the clock with an unassisted goal from Patrick Mitchell.  Mitchell, who finished the game with 4 goals, scored the last two goals for the Saints.  Eli Chalmers also scored 4 goals for Churchville-Chili.  Rush-Henrietta was led in scoring by Luke Delavak (3g-2a). Brighton Defeats CBA in 2OT

Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: In the closest of games played today, Brighton's junior attackman Lukas Stanat scored the winning goal in the second overtime period. The first quarter was close with Christian Brothers Academy up 2-1, but the Barons responded before the half with four goals and took the halftime breat up 5-3. Five goals from the Brothers in the third quarter tied the game at 8-8 to start the last quarter. Both teams scored three in the final tweleve minutes. With around three minutes left in the game and Brighton up 11-8, the Brothers surged, tying the game with 0:11. Six different Barons made the offensive book led by Casey McDermott (2g-5a) and Stanat (3g-2a). Leading the Brothers were Colin Kelly (2g-3a), Preston Taylor (3g-1a) and Ryan Mackenzie (1g-3a). Hilton Wins in Overtime

Hilton fought back from an early deficit to defeat Penfield 8-7 in the first overtime period.  The Cadets scored the game winning goal 3:28 into the first overtime period with an unassisted goal from Brenden Howell.  The Cadets controlled the ball for the majority of overtime and didn’t allow the Patriots a shot at the cage in overtime.  Hilton scored three of the final four goals in the game after trailing 0-3 after the first 10 minutes. Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: The Haverling Rams won the first game of the season as they posted a shutout over Batavia-Attica-Notre Dame. Eleven players made the offensive book which was led by Jamie O'Neil (3g-6a) and Jordon Deats (4g-3a). Haverling goalie Fylan Hoad made one save (100%). Full Story

Battle of Webster High Schools

In the battle of the Webster High Schools, Thomas defeated Schroeder 6-4 after a consistent four quarters.  Schroeder came out strong winning the first quarter 3-2.  Thomas came back with two unanswered goals in the second quarter to take the 4-3 lead into halftime.  The Titans never lost the lead after that. Penn Yan, Hilton, Thomas Among Winners

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: Once again there were many mismatches in the sixteen games played today. On the other hand, Penn Yan won a big game (4-2) with Penfield. Hilton is off to its best start at 5-1 with their 8-7 win today over the Greece Storm. Thomas was a 6-4 winner over Schroeder in Webster and Pittsford was an 11-7 winner over Rush-Henrietta. Friday: DAY IN REVIEW: Fairport (4-1) seems to have had little difficulty as they defetaed Ithaca of Section IV (4-2) in the only game played today. Fairport will play Penfield on Wednesday. Ithaca will play Corning on Monday. Full Story

Penfield Comes Back to Give OP First Loss

Penfield delivered Orchard Park their first loss of the season with a comeback win over the Quakers.  The Patriots won 10-8 after scoring the final four goals of the game and holding Orchard Park scoreless for the final six minutes of the game.  Michael Mitchell scored two of the final four goals and finished with 4g on the game.  Overall, Travis Wagner’s performance in the cage was the lynchpin for the Patriots.  He finished with 21 saves (72%) including multiple point blank saves.  John Richiusa finished 10/15 at the draw and won four straight draws to keep the ball in the Patriot half for the four goal stretch. Thomas Hands Hamburg Second Loss of the Season

Thomas scored four of the last five goals to pull ahead in their 10-8 win over Hamburg.  The game was only outside of a one goal game twice.  Throughout the contest, the score was tied each time up to 7-7 with both teams leading at different points in the game.  After Thomas scored their 8-7 lead, the game never tied again and Thomas held out the win.  Their 10th goal was scored with 0:12 remaining.  The Bulldogs fall to 6-2 with the loss, with both losses coming from Section Five teams (Canandiagua on 4/6) Full Story

Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: Section Five teams dominated against Section Six today, winning six of the eight games played. Winning were McQuaid Jesuit, Penfield, Thomas, Pittsford, Greece and Penn Yan. Brighton lost to St. Joseph (13-11) and Aquinas lost to Canisius (10-4).In a Section Five matchup Wayne defeated Marcus Whitman. Full Story

The Pride Defeats the Spartans

Monday: DAY IN REVIEW: In the only game played today, the Bloomfield-Honeoye Pride defeated the visiting Gates Chili Spartans 13-9. After a 1-1 tie in the first quarter, the Pride took off with six unanswered goals and never looked back. Sophomore attackman Max Willix (4g) and senior midfielder Devin Campbell (2g-2a) led the offense while sophomore goalie Owen Saxby recorded 11 saves (55%). Canandaigua 13 - Geneva 3

Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were two games scheduled and only one and a half played today. At Canandaigua Academy, the Braves went right to work, outscoring the Panthers 5-1 in the first and 7-3 in the second quarter. After that, Geneva was held scoreless in the second half while Canandaigua added six more. Nine players made the Braves offensive list which ws led by Tyler Goode (3g-2a) and Mark Belles (2g-3a). Matt Bierhile won 14 of 19 face-offs and Aiden Kenyon made five saves (63%). Sam Miller led the Panther scoring with 2g. Canandaigua (6-1) will play Thomas on Thursday. Geneva (5-2) will play Greece on Saturday. Full Story

Fairport Over Penfield

Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: After a close first quarter, Fairport scored three unanswered goals in the second and three more in the last quarter to achieve a 7-2 win at Penfield. Junior midfielder Klay Stuver led the Red Raider offense with 3g while junior goalie Tim Defendis made six saves (75%). LukeCondon and Max Hoadley each scored a groal for Penfield and Travis Wagner made twenty-one saves (75%) for the Patriots who will play Victor on Tuesday. Canandaigua Uses Fourth Quarter to Secure Win

Canandaigua scored four goals in the final quarter to secure a 6-5 victory over Thomas.  The Titans played a strong early game, but in the second half, they struggled offensively as they were scoreless for twenty minutes spanning from 0:47 seconds into the third until just under 3 minutes left in regulation. Schroeder and Canandaigua Win in Close Ones

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: With 0:17 left in the first overtime period, senior midfielder Noah Germano scored to give the Warriors a 14-13 victory over Wayne. Josh Hauman led Schroeder with 5g-2a and Cole Bolin added 3g-2a. Andy Hamel (5g-1a) and John Reagan (2g-5a) led the Wayne offense. Wayne was the last undefeated team in the section. Full Story

Finally Some Close Games

Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: After a number of days full of mismatches, a number of the six games played today were close ones. Penn Yan overcame a 7-3 defecit and scored six goals to force a tied with Canandaigua, who won in the first overtime period. Geneva played a close game with Greece, winning 10-6 after multiple late goals by Sam Miller. West Genesee was an 11-8 winner against Hilton and Pittsford lost an 8-7 game with G-M. Finally, Wayne was a 10-8 winner over Aquinas and, by the way, Victor posted a 17-2 win over Kettle Moraine (Wisconsin). Full Story

Fairport Fights Back for Overtime Win

Fairport fought back over the final 23 minutes of the contest to defeat Webster Thomas 8-7 in the first overtime period.  The Red Raiders held the Titans scoreless for the final 22 minutes of regulation, while scoring three goals to force overtime.  Thomas scored the first goal and never trailed (although the score was tied 3 times) before Fairport scored the game winning overtime goal.  Kole Stuver scored his second goal of the game 1:33 into the first overtime period.  His brother Klay scored the game tying goal with 6:20 left in the fourth quarter. Penfield Defense Steps up in Overtime Win

Penfield scored four unanswered goals to end the third quarter and begin the fourth quarter in their 7-6 overtime win against Victor.  The Patriots were down by three halfway through the third quarter before they began their scoring streak.  The fourth goal of the stretch gave Penfield the lead with 3:07 left on the clock and forced Victor to send the game into overtime.  In the first overtime period, Victor won the face-off, but could not get a shot on cage before Penfield cleared the ball upfield and scored on their first shot.  Max Hoadley scored his second goal of the game unassisted to give the win to the Patriots. Pittsford Wins 7-6 in Regulation

Pittsford and Canandaigua played a back and forth contest with neither team leading by more than two.  The Panthers won 7-6 after scoring three straight to span the third and fourth quarters.  During their scoring stretch, they held the Braves scoreless for 22 minutes.  The goal scoring was spread out for the Panthers with three players scoring two goals each (Ben DiGiovanni, Ryan Dumont and Sonny Imburgia).  Harrison Cross led in scoring with 4a on the game. Spencerport Wins Second Straight

After dropping their first five games, Spencerport is on a two game streak with big wins against Brockport (19-10) and tonight against R-H 9-7.  The Rangers scored the opening goal with Zach Edwards scoring in the first 60 second unassisted and although the game was tied twice, they never lost the lead.  Rush-Henrietta played hard in the beginning of the third with 4 out of 5 straight goals to tie the game at 6-6.  However, the Rangers came back to finish out the third up by two and hold the Royal Comets to only a single goal late in the fourth. Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were several one-goal games today and some were unexpected wins. Fairport(6-1) needed overtime to defeat a scrappy Thomas(3-6) 8-7 and Penfield(4-5) used overtime to beat Victor(7-2) 7-6. Meanwhile Pittsford(5-4) was a 7-6 winner over Canandaigua(8-2). Spencerport(2-5) defeated Rush-Henrietta(5-4) with a scored of 9-7 and Hilton(6-2) took out Schroeder(4-4) 9-5. Full Story

Newark, C-C and McQ Win on Wednesday

Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were four games played today and most were mismatches. Newark held BAND scorerless for three quarters as seven players made the offensive book which was led by Jayden Shepherd with 3g-2a and Matt Card (4g). Talyn Pierce had 13s for the Reds. McQuaid Jesuit scored seven unanswered goals in the seconds quarer on their way to a 16-3 win at Catherdral Prep. Nine players made the book led by Ryan McEvily with (4g). The Knights (6-2) will play Livonia-Avon on Thursday. Churchville-Chili were led by Pat Mitchell (6g-3a) and Eli Chalmers (5g-4a) in their win over Gates Chili. Aquinas and Nichols played a close game right down to the end, but came up short in the 6-8 loss when the Vikings scored scored four unanswered goals in the third quarter. Full Story

Nichols faced their second Section Five opponent of the season tonight when they faced Aquinas.  The Vikings defeated the Little Irish 8-6 after scoring four unanswered goals in the third quarter while holding Aquinas scores over the same period.  Their defense held off Aquinas for 18 minutes spanning the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters.  Leading in scoring for Nichols was Jackson Glynn (2g-2a) and Matt Berdysiak (1g-3a). Stuver Scores the Final Four Goals to Give Fairport the Win

Fairport took an early lead and then held off Canandaigua to defeat the Braves 9-6.  The Red Raiders scored the final two goals in the last minute with empty net goals after the Braves pulled their goalie in an attempt to get the ball back.  Klay Stuver (who scored both empty net goals) led his team with 4g-1a.  Goalie Tim Defendis finished with 11s/6ga (65%) for the Red Raiders. Greece Storm Hold Off Spencerport for Win

Greece Storm and Spencerport played a back and forth contest with the Storm scoring the game winner with 5:08 left in game.  Only once (midway through the first quarter) was the game more than one goal apart.  Full Story

Schroeder Wins in Overtime

Schroeder improved to 5-4 with an overtime win against Penfield 8-7.  Nick Hauman scored the winning overtime goal for Schroeder.  This is the second game of the season where the Patriots have lost in overtime.  Schroeder came to dominate the first half before Penfield began a comeback in third quarter. Brockport Scores Last Four Including Game Winner in OT

Brockport scored the last four goals of the game, including the game winner in overtime.  Matt Heyden scored his fourth of the game only 0:10 into the first overtime period.  Gates-Chili scored early and took strong leads in both the first and third quarters, but could not hold off the late push by the Blue Devils.  Full Story

Many Exciting Games Played on Thursday

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: It was a big day, with fifteen games and many exciting matchups and when they games were all played, there were five one-goal games and a number of suprising finishes including Brighton at Victor, where they Barons won a 12-8 victory. Brockport was a 9-8 winner over Gates Chili, Greece was a 7-6 winner over Spencerport, Rush-Henrietta was a 6-5 winner over HF-L, Pittsford was an 11-10 winner over Irondequoit and Schroeder was an 8-7 winner over Penfield. Hilton beat Thomas 9-3. It was only the second time the Cadets (7-2) have won against the Titans.  Full Story

Seth Benedict scores 100th Goal

Teammates and coaches celebrated with Marcus Whitman junior midfielder Seth Benedict after their Mynderse game in recognition of his scoring his 100th (and 101st) goal in the game. Seth's career record started in his eigth grade season when he scored 4g-3a on the Wildcat Varsity. He currently has 101g-68a. Full Story

Friday: DAY IN REVIEW: Churchville-Chili won their game with East United with eleven players making the offensive book led by Eli Chalmers who had 6g-11a and a hand in all seven second half goals. Joseph Gibson won 14 faceoffs for the Saints who will play Schroeder on Tuesday. East United will play BAND on 5/30. Full Story

Haverling Get Revenge After Early Season Loss

After an overtime loss earlier in the season, Haverling came into tonight’s game looking for revenge.  The Rams scored six of the last eight to defeat Livonia-Avon 8-7.  The Rams scored the tying goal with 2:23 remaining in the third quarter and the winning goal with 1:30 left on the clock in the third.  Neither team scored in the final 13 minutes of play.  The Lakers pressed early and held a 5-2 leading before Haverling began their late scoring streak. Greece Fights Back from Early Deficit

Greece Storm fought back from a four goal deficit to defeat Aquinas 9-8.  The  Storm scored the go ahead goal with only 1:01 remaining in regulation after trailing for the majority of the game.  That was only the second time in the entire game that Greece took the lead.  The first time was for less than a minute early in the fourth quarter. B-H Holds off Brockport in Win

Bloomfield-Honeoye led for nearly the entire game in their 10-9 win over Brockport.  The Blue Devil only led one (at 2-1) and only for 10 seconds before a face-off fast-break tied the game again.  Overall, the game was tied three times, but the Pride remained in control for the majority of the game.   Every time that Bloomfield-Honeoye pulled ahead, Brockport fought back to keep the game close, but it was not enough to come out on top. Gananda Takes First Lead in Final 3 Minutes

Gananda trailed for nearly the entire contest before scoring the final goal of the game to defeat Newark 6-5.  The Blue Panthers scored tied the game for the fourth time with 4:13 left on the clock with Logan Chasey assisting AJ Golden.  Two minutes later with 2:30 remaining, Joel Bean scored off a feed from Golden to give Gananda their first lead.  They were able to hold off the Reds offense for the final two minutes to secure the victory. B-H Scores Final Three to Win

In a game of streaks, Bloomfield-Honeoye scored the final three goals of the game to defeat Eastridge 12-10.  The Pride, had both trailed by three and led by three at different points in the game.  In the second half, the game was much closer with three ties coming in the final 18 minutes. Thomas Holds Off Wayne

Thomas and Wayne played the conclusion of their match from April 16th today with the Titans winning 9-6.  Thomas scored five of the first seven goals to take an early lead that the Eagles could not fight back against.  This was only the second loss of the year for Wayne and first non-overtime loss.  With tonight’s win the Titans break a three game win-less streak, including an overtime loss to Fairport last week. Monday: DAY IN REVIEW: The second half of the Thomas at Wayne game was played tonight and the Titans, who led 5-4 when the game was suspended scored two goals in each of the remaining quarters to win 9-6. Sophomore attackman, Joe Russo led the Thomas book with 4g and junior offensiveman John Reagan led the Wayne book with 3g. Thomas plays Gates Chili on Tuesday and Wayne plays Mynderse. Full Story
