Gananda Wins Season Opener

Gananda travelled up to East United to play their first game of the season tonight and defeated the Eagles 12-3.  The Blue Panthers scored the first two goals of the game and never trailed in their victory.  Leading in the scoring for Gananda was Jake Rapp with 5g-2a (7 of 12 points for Gananda).  Rapp also scored the first goal of the season for the Blue Panthers with an unassisted goal 3:53 into the game. Friday: DAY IN REVIEW: Two games made it tonight before the snow arrived with Gananda winning their opener at East United. Rush-Henrietta Wins at Gananda

Monday: DAY IN REVIEW: Rush-Henrietta scored the first twelve goals as they won their non-league game at Gananda. It was the only game played in the Section today. Full Story

Waterloo Wins Season Opener

Waterloo opened their season with an 8-3 win over East High.  The Indians scoreed the opening two goals and led for the remainder of the game.  The first goal of the season was an unassisted goal from senior midfielder Toby Loucks.  Loucks finished last season with 28 goals and the second highest goal total of the Indian's roster.  He finished today with 3g-1a.  Dylan DeLucia also finished with 4 points (2g-2a).  Defensively, junior Joel Kraft had a stand out game and helped hold the Eagles to only three points. Mynderse defeats Eastridge 14-3

Mynderse improves to 2-0 on the young season with another decisive victory over Eastridge 14-3. After a slow start, tied at the end of the first quarter, Mynderse went on to score 11 unanswered goals over the next two and a half quarters. Leading the charge for the Devils was senior attackman Owen Lorenzetti (5g-3a).  Colby Reese (2g-4a) and Ethan Spinner (1g-3a) also added to the high point total in this high scoring game.  For Eastridge, junior Zachary Hiscock led with 1g-1a. Livonia-Avon Wins in Overtime Over Haverling

Livonia-Avon won their second game of the season with a 16-15 overtime win over Haverling.  Sophomore Ryan Lambert scored the game winning goal with 1:24 into the first overtime period.  It was Lambert's third goal of the game (3g-2a) that won the game for the Lakers.  Reverdy Clarke (6g) and Matthew Connor (4g-2a) led in scoring for Livonia-Avon. Geneva and Livonia-Avon Both Win in OT

Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: Eight games were played under cloudless skies, yet cold conditions an there were a mixture of close games and runaways. Coach Brian Travis reports that after taking a lead in the first half, Geneva say their hosts at Corning score five goals in the last quarter. Nick Askin score one of his three goals to send the game into overtime, where Sam Miller (3g-3a) scored the game winner for the Panthers. Full Story

Newark Holds off Late Gates Chili Push

Newark scored the first three goals in their 5-4 win over Gates Chili and never gave the Spartans a chance to tie up the game.  The Reds were led in scoring by Matt Card (4g).  Kyle Martinez scored the game opener (unassisted) before Card finished out the scoring with four straight goals for Newark.  The Spartans were led by Kyle Krystan with 2g-1a.  The opening goal for Gates Chili was scored when Zane Tuller assisted Blake Palozzi with 10:45 remaining in the second quarter.  Krystan then responded with two back to back goals in the third and an assist in the fourth to Anthony Nguyen.  Although the Spartans scored the last two goals, they never tied up the game and Reds ran out the clock. Blue Devils and Blue Panthers Win Today

Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were only two games played today and both were mismatches as Mynderse defeated Watkins Glen and Gananda won their game with Batavia-Attica-Notre Dame (BAND). Full Story

Victor Over Pittsford in a Thriller

After the game, one of the officials working it said it best when he said, "This looked like a Sectional Championship game." It certainly, although as the teams are in different classes, they won't play again this year. Full Story

Aquinas Holds off Livonia-Avon in Season Opener

After a hard-fought first half, Aquinas pulled ahead in the opening of the third quarter to defeat Livonia-Avon 12-11.  The Little Irish scored four unanswered goals to pull ahead from 4-4 to 8-4 in a little less than 3 minutes.  They held that lead for most of the third quarter, before Livonia-Avon fought back in the final five minutes of quarter with their own four goal stretch.  The game was tied 8-8 with under a minute in the third quarter.  Aquinas's Joey Sciortino scored with 0:04 left on the clock to give the Little Irish the 9-8 lead going into the final 12 minutes.  After that they held off the Lakers for the victory. Greece Storm Scores Five Straight in Win over C-C

Greece Storm scored five unanswered goals spanning the second and third quarters in their 8-5 win over Churchville-Chili. The Storm held the Saints scoreless for over 23 minutes in the contest.  They also spread out their offense with six players making the offensive book.  Jacob Holdaway led in scoring with 3 goals, including the last two.  Churchville-Chili had each of their five goals scored by a different athlete. Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: After the game, one of the officials working it said it best when he said, "This looked like a Sectional Championship game." In a game that went back and forth and right down to the last minute, Victor was a 7-6 winner over visiting Pittsford. Full Story

Canandaigua Wins Season Opener

Friday: DAY IN REVIEW: There was only one game played on Friday night. After a slow start, Canandaigua seemed to grab momentum with three goals in a row, but Pal-Mac, behind the efforts of senior midfielder Jake Gallina (3g-2a), kept the game close with the Braves finishing with a 10-8 win on the road. Seven Canandaigua players made the offesnive book that was led by sophomore midfielder Sam Bennett (5g) and senior midfielder Mitch Pfeiffer (2-3). Both goalies had a good game. Shaun Murphy for the Red Raiders made 12s (55%0 and Aiden Kenyon made 10s *56%) for the Braves. Full Story

Chalmers Scores in OT for CC

Senior Eli Chalmers fed Patrick Mitchell for the game winning goal 3:40 into the first overtime period to give Churchville-Chili the 12-11 win over Williamsville North.  Tonight was opening night of the new Saint’s turf field and Chalmers was a demonstrative force; he finished with 6g-3a and was a part of 75% off all Churchville-Chili goals. Pittsford Falls to St. Joseph

After a close three quarter, St. Joseph’s Collegiate pulled away with eight unanswered goals spanning the third and fourth quarters to defeat Pittsford 12-7.  The Marauders were led in scoring by Evan Mulderig with 5g-1a.  He played a role in half of the St. Joseph goals.  Pittsford was led in scoring by Ryan Dumont (2g-12a) and Sonny Imburgia (1g-2a). Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: R-H won their third game with a win against Livonia-Avon. After leading for the majority of three quarters, RH had to fight back in the final five minutes to defeat Livonia-Avon 10-9. Week In Review - Week 2

It was a busy first full week with thirty-four games played with only Marcus Whitman and Wayne still waiting for their first games. At the moment there are seventy-one out of section games scheduled and fifteen have been played. Section Five has won five and the out of section teams have won ten. Full Story
