DAY IN REVIEW: MONDAY - There were three games played today and all of them were won by more than three goals. 

Joe_SidariBATAVIA-NOTRE DAME-0 at BLOOMFIELD-HONEOYE-19 - Eleven different players scored goals for the Pride including Freshman midfielder Braiden Schneider, 8th grade midfielder Uriah Gumaer, and Sophomore midfielder Brayden Butler who each scored their first Varsity goal for Bloomfield-Honeoye. Also scoring for The Pride (4-2) were John Blair (1g-6a), Liam Roach (3g-1a), Cody Whittaker (3g-1a), Jonathan Nelson (1g-3a), and Caleb Beadnell (2g). Facing off for Bloomfield-Honeoye was Junior Cody Whittaker with 9+/4- = 69%, and Gumaer with 4+/3- = 57%. In the goal for Bloomfield-Honeoye was junior Ethan Stoddard with 2s/0ga = 100% (36 mins), and sophomore Logan Gantz with 1s/0ga = 100% (12 mins). Head Coach Joe Sidari won his 75th career game. EDITOR'S NOTE: This weekly summary touches on some of the games played in the recent past and highlights some games of interest in the current week. For more in-depth coverage, click on the DAY OF THE WEEK for more coverage for that day, including box scores, articles, and galleries.

There fourty-six games played last week. There are seventy-six out of section games scheduled and 41 have been played. Section V teams have won 24 and lost 17 (57%). Pal-Mac (7-0) is the only undefeated team at this point.

Looking Back

On Monday There were three games played and all of them were won by more than three goals. Geneva downed Churchville-Chili, Pal-Mac kept their streak alive with a win over visiting Marcus Whitman, and Batavia-ND fell to Lewiston-Porter.

On Tuesday There were eleven games played and five were close ones. Spencerport was a 10-9 winner over HFL. Fairport defeated Greece Storm by a score of 5-4. Victor defeated Thomas by a score of 8-6. Livonia-Avon defeated Midlakes-Red Jacket by a score of 8-6. 

On Wednesday Geneva beat visiting Marcus Whitman and Brockport defeated Batavia-Notre Dame.. 

Wayne at HiltonOn Thursday There were ten games played and only one close one as Irondequoit faceoff specialist Jonah Carrier scored an unassisted goal at 3:53 in overtime to lift the Eagles over Penfield. Penn Yan Head Coach Brian Hobart joins Randy Garrett (Fairport 371) and John Johnson (Canandaigua 357) in the 300 Club with the win.

On Friday There were 3 games played today and all of them were won by at least three goals. Fairport beat Aquinas, Brockport beat Gates Chili and East United-Eastridge defeated Bishop Kearney. 

On Saturday There were twelve games played and all of them were won by more than three goals. Pal-Mac and Irondequoit won at home and all the other teams won on the road.

Looking Ahead

Wayne at HiltonIt is a light week with only forty-four games scheduled. Many, however, will be exciting ones and will most certainly have an impact of league standings and tournament seeding in May. In MC1 Fairport is at Pittsford, Greece is at R-H and Hilton is at Pittsford, In MC2 Schroeder is at Victor and Brighton is at Irondequoit and there are seven FL games this week.

On Monday Brockport is at Midlakes-RJ, Batavia-ND is at B-H and Newark is at Geneva.

There are twelve games scheduled for Tuesday including Greece at R-H, BH at Midlakes, Gananda at Gates, Fairport at Penfield, Canandaigua at HFL  and Wayne at Pal-Mac. There should be some close ones on Tuesday.

There are no games set for Wednesday.

Pal-MacOn Thursday there are thirteen scheduled games, and some should be real close. You might want to see Irondequoit at Pittsford, Penfield at Canandaigua. Hilton at Thomas, or Mynderse at Wayne. Rush-Henrietta is at C-C and Midlakes is at Newark.

On Friday Essex (VT) will travel to Geneva and McDowell (Erie PA) is at Pal-Mac.

Saturday has fourteen games on the schedule, including Churchville at Avon, Orchard Park at Penfield, Victor at Jamesville-DeWitt and Penn Yan at Canandaigua.

Twelve Games on Saturday

DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - There were 12 games played today and all of them were won by more than three goals. Pal-Mac and Irondequoit won at home and all the other teams won on the road.

Penn Yan at GenevaPENN YAN-7 at GENEVA-2 - The first half was closely contested, but the Mustangs came our after the break with five unanswered goals. Scoring for Penn Yan (6-1) were Sophomore midfielder Braden Fingar (2g-2a), Junior midfielder Teagan Fingar (2g-2a), Senior midfielder Bryant VanHousen (1g), Freshman attackman Mike Gigliotti (1g), and Freshman midfielder Levi Fisher (1g). Greyson Hathway, an either grade faceoff specialist won eight of twelve faceoffs and Penn Yan goalie Jaxon Jensen recorded 9s/2ga = 82% (48 mins). Scoring for Geneva (4-4) were Junior midfielder Max Heieck (1g), Junior midfielder Robby Johnson (1g), Freshman attackman Jack Dunham (1a), and Sophomore attackman Ryland Dunham (1a). Geneva senior goalkeeper Paul Williams recorded 8s/7ga = 53% (48 mins). PHOTOGRAPHER NOTES: The game was much closer than the score indicates and a few key points seemed to make the difference. Both goalies made some impressive save including some by Jensen in the five or six penalties that give Geneva man-up opportunities. Junior midfielders Braeden Caviness and Roman Hoyser and Freshman midfielder Dylan Morabito each scored their first Varsity goal for the Blue Panthers. Others making the offensive book include Jacob Michaels (3g-3a), Jase Smith (4g-1a), and Brayden Dohse (2g-2a). Facing off for Gananda was junior Alex Galka with 13+/2- = 87%. Geneva and Brockport Win Today

DAY IN REVIEW: WEDNESDAY - There were just two games played today. Geneva beat visiting Marcus Whitman and Brockport defeated Batavia-Notre Dame.

MARCUS WHITMAN-2 at GENEVA-15 - In Finger Lakes action, the Panthers took control right out of the box, taking an 11-1 lead in the first half, receiving offense from Max Heieck (3g-4a), Jeremy Askin (3g-2a), and Jack Dunham (2g-1a). Askin faced off and recorded18+/2- = 90% and in the goal for Geneva, Paul Williams had 3s/2ga = 60% (48 mins). Scoring for Marcus Whitman were senior midfielder Melkamu Blueye (1g-1a), and sophomore attackman Ayden Clark (1g). DAY IN REVIEW: TUESDAY - There were 11 games played today and 5 were close ones. Spencerport was a 10-9 winner over HFL. Fairport defeated Greece Storm by a score of 5-4. Victor defeated Thomas by a score of 8-6. Livonia-Avon defeated Midlakes-Red Jacket by a score of 8-6. 

Newark at Pal-MacBLOOMFIELD-HONEOYE-7 at MYNDERSE-13 - Both Junior attackman Griffin Hilimire (4g-3a) and Senior midfielder Dylan Tandle reached their 50th career goal in the game that also saw offensive numbers from Jack Brady (4g-1a), and Phillip Love (2g-1a). Leading the scoring for Bloomfield-Honeoye (2-2) were John Blair (3g-2a), Liam Roach (3g-1a), and Tyler Bruder (2g). Facing specialist Cody Whittaker had just over half the draws (13+/12- = 52%) and in the goal junior Ethan Stoddard recorded 14s/13ga = 52% (48 mins). Players of the Week - First of the Year

Section V Boys Lacrosse Coordinator Mike Simon in conjunction with the Canandaigua National Bank are, once again, sponsoring recognition of noteworthy performances throughout the season.

Offensive Player of the Week

Sean OlvanyBrody Secker - Victor Midfielder

Brody Secker has started out his junior year making a statement. In a very close game with Niskayuna (Section II) that saw four ties and five lead changes, Brody received a feed from Jack Herendeen with 00:02:42 left in overtime and scored the game winning goal. In the 10-9 game, Brody had 2g.

Head Coach Dan Stone says, "Brody continues to embrace his new roles and responsibilities for our team this year. It has not taken him long to make an impact in many positive ways, not only on the field, but also with his contagious positive attitude in the locker room and sideline. Brody is a dynamic player helping our team establish its identity this season."

Defensive Player of the Week

Nick LepianeJake Gibson - Aquinas Goalie

Jake Gibson had a big week, winning three games with 27 saves. He had 15 saves (75%) in the Aquinas 16-7 win over Geneva and 9 saves (56%) in the overtime win with Canisius. In that game he made a point-blank save in overtime that was key to the win. The sophomore, in his second year on the Varsity, has 205 career saves and an average of 63%. Last year he was named to the Class D All-Tournament team and was a first team GRALL goalie.

Head Coach Terry Corcoran says, “Jake is an outstanding athlete who works hard to be the best goalie he can be every day. He`s a resilient competitor with an outstanding attitude. Jake is a pleasure to coach.”

DAY IN REVIEW: MONDAY - There were 3 games played today and all of them were won by more than three goals. Geneva downed Churchville-Chili, Pal-Mac kept their streak alive with a win over visiting Marcus Whitman, and Batavia-ND fell to Lewiston-Porter.

CC at GenMARCUS WHITMAN-7 at PAL-MAC-19 - Pal-Mac maintained their undefeated season with their win over visiting Marcus Whitman today. Eight different players scored goals for Pal-Mac including Senior goalie Peyton Lich who scored his first Varsity goal in the game. Others making the offensive book were Keagan Hoesterey (1g-11a), Reid Diehl (5g), Max Hill (3g-2a), and Jackson Dennie (3g-1a). Junior face off specialist Luke VanGorden recorded 20+/10- = 67% and in the goal Peyton Lich had 15s/7ga = 68% (48 mins). Scoring for Marcus Whitman (1-3) were Sophomore midfielder Tariku Blueye (3g-3a), Senior midfielder Melkamu Blueye (2g), and Senior attackman Teague Gallogly (2g-0a).
