Players of the Week - April 28, 2015

- Player of the Week

The third Players of the Week this week come from a large list of nominations and represent a Class A school and a Class C school. Interestingly, both players are committed to attend Vermont after graduation. Jon Perotto is a junior attackman from Pittsford (12-0) and Dylan Joy is a junior defenseman from Gananda (8-1).

On a team where eight players have points in double figures and the team averages over twelve points per game is is difficult to pick one player from the many, but junior attackman Jon Perotto has been an important part of the Panther offensive success. Scoring points in every game thus far, he leads the team in goals, assists and points with 30g-21a. Last week he scored 5g-2a when Pittsford defeated Orchard Park (Section VI) and he had five assists against Fairport. He is headed to Vermont after graduation.

Pittsford Head Coach has calls Jon a complete offensive player. "Jon has worked extremely hard to make himself into a complete attackman. He has a tremendous shot and also sees the field very well which allows him to be a dangerous feeder."

Junior defenseman Dylan Joy is a player who fills many jobs at Gananda. As a defenseman he is aggressive and an active take away man. On the face off he scoops up balls all over the field and so far this year, he has scored sixteen points (9g-7a). He currently leads his team in ground balls (108) and take aways (47).

Dylan is in his fourth year on the varsity, having started as an eighth grader and has made a verbal commitment to play at Vermont.

Gananda Head Coach Mike Malloy says, "Dylan is one of the hardest working players I've had the pleasure of coaching. He is a multitalented player who can be plugged into any position on the field. From the Face off wing, to fast breaks, Dylan generates just as much offense as he does defense.

Each week a small committee of SportsFive.NET staff members and some Section Five Lacrosse Committee members will create and review review nominations from coaches, players and fans and pick one offensive and one defensive player who have excelled in a game or games during the season.

The award winners will receive a commemorative shirt and will featured on the SportsFive.NET web site.

Fans of Section Five Lacrosse can make their nominations on-line by clicking here.
