Greece Storm Hold Off Spencerport for Win

- Greece Storm and Spencerport played a back and forth contest with the Storm scoring the game winner with 5:08 left in game.  Only once (midway through the first quarter) was the game more than one goal apart. 

Greece scored the first goal three minutes into the contest with Jacob Holdaway scoring unassisted.  Spencerport responded with three goals in 1:15. Gage Baker-Brownlie scored the first and Tyler Gostling scored the second and third.  The Storm’s Paul Forte scored the final goal of the opening quarter to bring the game back within one with 0:38 left on the clock.  Spencerport led 3-2 after 12 minutes.

In the second, both teams added a single goal (Flanagan for Greece and Schmeer for Spencerport).  Spencerport held their one goal lead going into the half.  In the third, Greece Storm scored both goals to take their first lead since the opening goal.  Jake Hill and Trevor Gilliard scored for the Storm.  The Storm defense held Spencerport scoreless for nearly twenty minutes.  Todd Smith broke the scoring drought with an unassisted goal at 7:34 left in the fourth.

Greece took the lead once again with 6:05 remaining off an unassisted goal by Nicholas Leonardi.  Spencerport responded with a face-off fast-break Connor Mesh scoring only 7 seconds later to keep the game tied.  The next Greece lead came less than a minute later with Holdaway scoring his second goal to give the Storm the win.  They held Spencerport’s offense scoreless for the final five minutes.
