Penn State Selects LaCrosse and Travis as Captains

Penn State Head Coach Jeff Tambroni announced yesterday his three captains for the 2014 season and two are Section Five alumni. Seniors Tom LaCrosse (Canandaigua), Tyler Travis (Geneva) and Gavin Ahern (Rockville Center, NY) were his selections.

LaCrosse was the leading midfield scorer last season with 23g-5a. He was an All-CCA First Team selection and as a USILA honorable mention All American. At the team's annual banquet he received the "Hard Hat Award for his hard work, persistence, work ethic and 'blue collar' standard."

Travis, who played the role of "shut-down defenseman", was also named to the All-CAA First Team in 2013. Last year was his first injury-free year. He created fourteen forced turnovers and picked up 31 ground balls last year.

Ahern received the Tom Hayes Nittany Lion Teammate Award last year.
