- Rush Henrietta finished last season sixth in Monroe County Division I with a 2-4 record (7-9 overall). Rush-Henrietta 2009Seeded eighth in the Class A Tournament, the Royal Comets lost to Hilton in the first round and finished ninth. R-H, although returning most of their roster, is still in for a tough year in the highly competitive Monroe County Division I.

The Royal Comets only lost four players to graduation last season. The biggest loss for R-H is the graduation of starting goalie Matt Gladstone who finished with 135 saves. R-H will be looking to a strong senior class for leadership. Coach Jim DeWald writes, "We have seven seniors with three years of varsity experience . . . We are looking for our senior leaders to step up this season."

R-H returns both its leading scorer and leading assister in attackman Joe Perkins (34g-10a) and Jake Alvarez (16g-18a). Perkins and Alvarez will lead the Royal Comets attack. In the midfield, R-H has four players returning with All League honors; Brad Sauln (Second Team), Chris Aycock (HM), Torry Whitcher (HM) and Chauncey Scissum (HM). Aycock finished last season with 30g-10a and has made plans to attend Nazareth in the fall. Sauln, who faced off for the Royal Comets last season, will be important to their success again this year at the draw. Whitcher finished with 16g-7a and Scissum, who finished with 8g-1a as an eighth grader, returns for his freshman year.

Defensively, the Royal Comets will need to look to new players to step into key positions early. The return of junior Zak Ackerson, paired with Dylan Saxon coming back from a knee injury last season will help R-H on defense. Chris Swanson returns from last season for his second year in the close defense. Swanson was named to the Honorable Mention team last season. In the cage, last year's backup goalie Corey Spuck and junior Mark Wagner will compete for the starting spot between the pipes this season.

Coach DeWald recognizes a good combination this season, writing "We have a good mix of seniors and quality underclassman."

With the current league orientation, each team in Monroe County divisions I and II can only schedule three out-of-league games and they have scheduled contests against Clarence, Livonia and Williamsville East.
