Saturday - Island Still Undefeated

- Long Island dominated against New York City in the second game of the li_nycday, winning 17-1. The lone NYC goal was scored with 4:13 remaining in the first quarter when Jon Tomashoff scored for the City on a clear. The long stick defenseman took the ball all the way down the field and scored himself.

New York City attackman, Forrest Sonnenfeldt (Fieldston) an All American as a junior, who scored 11 goals in the first four games. Did not play in this game after straining his back in earlier games.

Long Island scored one EMO goal out of two opportunities, while NYC did not score on either of their two opportunities. As the first half ended the score was 11-1 Long Island. Long Island then scored 6-0 in the second half, only 4 past the running time mark. Once the game went into running time the Long Island team started to sub out their starters and let the NYC offense set up.

li_nycOnly one offensive player from Long Island did not have either a goal or an assist. The scoring was spread out of 12 players. All but three Long Island players had at least one groundball.
Both teams split their goalies at the half. Long Island's Rob Bellairs and NYC's Samuel Grinberg started the game for their respective teams. Bellairs finished with one goal against and Grinberg finished with 4s/11ga. The Island's Ryan Zaremba and NYC Grant Tomashoff played the second halves. Zaremba finished with two saves and Tomashoff finished with six goals against.

NYC only had three shots on cage and a total of 12 shots. Nicholas Stanley (6gbs) and Julian Musikant (5gbs) led NYC in ground balls. Steven Murphy (5), Jeff Froccaro (4), Andrew Hodgson (4) and Kyle Sheridan (4) led Long Island in ground balls.
