Churchville-Chili over HFL

- It was Churchville-Chili over Honeoye Falls-Lima in a Monday night night game on Monday.

redspot Host Churchville-Chili defeated HFL tonight by a score of 16-12. The Saints improved to 9-5 and HFL fell to 6-8 on the season. Freshman attackman, Ryan Yunker (4g-2a) and Gino Marcello, senior attackman, each tallied 6 points (4g-2a) leading the Saints past the Cougars. Senior attackman, Zach Whyte led all scorers (55-1a) while Senior midfielder, Cade Norris (4g-2a) had yet another strong offensive performance.
  
C-C started out the game with four goals in the first five minutes of play. HFL came back by scoring the next two goals. Gino Marcello closed out the first period with a EMO goal with only 47 seconds on the clock making the score 5-2 in favor of Churchville-Chili after the first period.
  
HFL started the second quarter with two quick goals in the first 1:35, the second goal a MU goal scored by Cade Norris with a nice feed from Mike Coady. C-C extended their lead with a balanced offensive performance from Yunker, Marcello, Scott Shamp, and Jon Hemink. The score stood at 10-6 at the halfway point.
  
HFL scored twice to start the third quarter (Whyte and Norris) pulling to with 10-8 of C-C. The Saints then pulled away with two scores (one in a EMO) at the 2:20 and 1:36 mark. HFL and C-C traded goals in the last minute of play.
  
Churchville was flagged for a personal foul (illegal stick) at the start of the last quarter. The three minute non-releasable penalty allowed HFL to score three goals before the penalty expired at the 9 minute mark, although CC did score a MU goal early in the penalty. The score was 14-12 in favor of Churchville but that was as close as the Cougars could get. Churchville pulled away with a 16-12 victory after scoring the last two goals of the contest.
  
C-C's goalie, Sean Kettles turned away 9 shots in a strong performance. Paul Preston grabbed 9 ground balls in the win for C-C.
  
Senior face off specialist, Zach Jonas won 18 of 28 face offs and tallied 9 ground balls for HFL. Sophomore long pole midfielder, Jimmy Burgasser had a season best 12 ground balls and 4 takeaways.
  
Scoring for Churchville-Chili were Ryan Yunker (4g-3a), Scott Shamp (1a), Chris Vitale (1g), Damien Pagano (2g), Ben Swan (1a), Jon Hemink (4g-1a), Cody Rumsey (1g), Gino Marcello (4g/1a). Sean Kettles had 9s/11ga (43 mins) and Adam Difulvio had 0s.1ga (5 mins) for the Saints (9-5).
  
Scoring for HFL were Zach Whyte (5g-1a), Bryan Gardner (1g), Mickey Allan (1a), Matt Lesczynski (1g), Mike Coady (1a), Cade Norris (4g-2a), Tyler Burgasser (1g), Greg Coady (1a). Jay Tallon had 3s/16ga for the Cougars (6-8).
