Wednesday: Hilton Sets Team Record

May 2, 2007 - Hilton posted its sixth win in a season with their 3-2 game with Brighton. Brockport was a 9-4 winner over HFL and Canandaigua, Livonia and McQuaid Jesuit won their games on Wednesday.
  
   Although the game began close with a 2-2 tie after one quarter, Brockport went on to defeat HFL 9-4. HFL was held scoreless for both the second and third quarters, before scoring two more goals in the final quarter.
  
Scoring began as junior goalie Connor Mykins was forced down the field after all the other players were locked on and scored the opening goal at 11:02. HFL tied the game with 6:43 remaining when Ian Griffin scored his first of two goals in the game (assisted by Matt Lesczynski). The goal was man-up. Brockport struck again as Adam Nauerth grabbed a loose ball on the crease and scored a quick goal. The Cougars tied up the game with 1:27 left as Matt Garvey scored his first (of two goals) on a broken clear.
  
The second and third quarters were all Brockport. Brockport scored seven straight unanswered goals ranging from a ground ball on the crease to an outside shot to a fast-break. The Blue Devils dominated the game both offensively and defensively. The third quarter ended with the score 9-2 for Brockport.
  
HFL scored the only two goals of the fourth quarter as Griffin scored his second on a crease drive and Garvey score his second on a ground ball after a missing shot.
  
Defensively HFL had a strong game but they could not capitalize on their opportunities. HFL's defense had seven different one-on-one takes (two by Cade Norris) but after every one, the Cougars had missed passes, or missed shots that caused them to lose the ball. Pat Roache who ended the game with 15s/9ga (63%) played extremely differently between the two halves. In the first half Roache was 5s/7ga (42%) while in the second half he recorded 10s/2ga (83%).
  
Brockport was a consistent team, playing good solid lacrosse for four quarters and keeping the game in check with both strong offense and strong defense. Mykins ended the game with 12s/4ga (75%). John Duthoy played four minutes but did not face any shots.

Groot (1a). Groot played the fourth quarter and recorded 1s/2ga (33%).
  
Scoring for Mynderse were Anthony Clark (2g), Ben LaValley (1g-1a), Dustin Luckinbill (1g) and Pete Hawyrschuk (1a). Tony Pallidino played the entire game and recorded 11s/17ga (39%). No report from Mynderse.
    
  McQuaid Jesuit defeated its GRALL opponent Haverling tonight 12-6. After taking a 5-0 first quarter lead, the Knights were up 8-2 at the half and 11-2 after three.
  
Mitch Ritchie of McQuaid Jesuit scored his 50th point of the season during this game (38g-17a).
  
Scoring for McQuaid Jesuit were Ritchie (4g-4a), Evan Gallina (3g), Bill Napoli (2g), Dan Sturnick (1g-2a), Tom Carpenter (1g), JD Ayer (1g) and Jeff MacDonald (2a). Junior middies Mark Engle and Ian Mort each scored thier first Varsity assists. Harry Goluses recorded 11s/6ga (65%) for the Knights (8-4).
  
Scoring for Haverling were David Harris (3g), Brad Fuerst (3g) and John Pruyn (2a). Chris Wolfer played the entire game recording 11s/12ga (48%).
    
 Livonia defeated Newark today 18-5. The Bulldogs took a 4-1 lead after the first and an 11-1 lead at halftime. The Bulldogs improve to 7-5 while Newark drops to 3-6.
  
Sophomore goalie Justin Becker finished with 10s/5ga (66%) for Livonia.
  
Tyler Russell scored his 50th point (34g-16a) of the season during this game.
