Regular Season Ends with Five Games

- Friday: DAY IN REVIEW: The regular season ended today with five games played and most of them had an impact of the tournament seeding. Gates Chili played the game of the season as they scored 15 goals and held Eastridge to 14 with Kyle Krystan leading the scoring with 4g-3a. Brighton finished their season at 8-8 with a loss to St. Joseph's (Section 6). Gananda and Penfield both had big wins to finish their season.

Fairport FileFairport played a close game with Corning (14-2), whose only loss this season was to Victor. After taking a 4-1 lead early in the game, the Hawks came back to tie the game at 4-4 to start the last quarter. With strong defensive play by the Red Raiders and a couple of goals from the offense, Fairport took the 6-4 victory to improve their record to 12-4.

Gates Chili scored the last three goals of the game to defeat Eastridge 15-14 in overtime. The Spartans trailed by two with six minutes left in regulation. Dante Giunta and Kyle Krystan scored the final two regulation goals to force overtime. With 1:56 left in the first overtime period, Kyle Fingar scored the game winning goal off a feed from Blake Palozzi. The game was a story of runs. Eastridge started off strong with the first three goals. Anthony Kimber scored the first two and assisted the third for the Lancers. Gates Chili slowly fought back to a 4-4 tie after the first twelve minutes.

In the second quarter, Eastridge pull ahead again. The Lancers started off the quarter with five unanswered goals (Clay Johnson (2), Trevor Schmidt (2) and Justyn Hiscock). Once again, the Spartans fought back. This time it was much slower. Although they pulled within a single goal four times, it wasn’t until the final tie at 14-14 that they evened up the scored for the second time. In the cage for Eastridge, Ashton Stidd recorded 13 saves. For Gates-Chili, Samuel Servati finished at 50% with 14 saves.
