Victor Hands Pittsford Their First Loss

April 27, 2017 - Victor defeated Pittsford for the fourth year in a row today.  The Blue Devils handing the Panthers their first loss of the season.  Victor controlled nearly the entire contest and led 6-1 with just over 2 minutes remaining in the contest.

In the first quarter, Victor scored three goals and held the Panthers scoreless for the entire quarter.  Victor’s first goal was scored by Zach Estabrooks with an inside dodge along the left side.  He stepped up past his defenseman and shot from near the crease.  Three minutes later and Sam Lambert assisted Alexander Mabbett.  Mabbett caught the ball on a cut across the center about 5 meters from the crease.  He turned off the pass and stepped towards the crease.  The third goal was scored unassisted by Mitchell Cain on another drive to the cage.  Victor led 3-0 after 12 minutes.

In the second quarter, Victor’s defense continued to hold the Panther’s scoreless.  Pittsford only had 2 shots on cage in each of the first two quarters with Chase Ierlan making four saves.  Ierlan finished the contest with 7 saves.  The Blue Devil offense had less time with the ball in the second quarter and did not any goals.  In the third quarter, Victor scored the opening goal with Estabrooks second.  With 10:01 remaining in the third quarter (26 minutes into play), Pittsford scored their first goal.  John Mozrall scored unassisted for the Panthers.  Estabrooks scored his third to finish out the quarter.

In the fourth, Victor scored their final goal with 4:56 remaining to take the 6-1 lead.  In the final two and half minutes, Pittsford scored two more goals to finish the game.  Both goals were scored on inside feeds to open players on the crease.  The first was Jeremy Jacobs to Brennan Mooney and the second was Mozrall to Sonny Imbrugia.  Imbrugia scored with 0:49 remaining in the game.

In the cage for Pittsford, Gavin Catalano recorded 7 saves.  The faceoff was split fairly close.  For Pittsford, Patrick Sullivan finished 5/11 and for Victor, Tucker Hill finished 7/12.
