Wayne Wins Sixth Annual Cradle for the Cure

- In the second game of the Girls-Boys Double Header of the "Cradle for a Cure" program, the boy’s of Wayne defeated Pal-Mac 17-9.  This marked the sixth annual "Cradle for a Cure" matchup to support a local family and Camp Good Days and Special Times.  The local fundraising/awareness event is currently in its sixth year.  Prior to the Boy’s match-up, the Girls played with Pal-Mac defeating Wayne 20-2.  The Girl's story can be found HERE.

Craddle for a Cure Wayne outscored Pal-Mac in each of the four quarters and controlled the pace of the game throughout.  The Eagles opened up the scoring with a goal 0:57 into the matchup.  John Reagan scored the game opener with a drive along the left wing.  He finished with 3g-2a and was the second highest scorer for the Eagles.  Pal-Mac responded with two goals of their own.  Both goals were scored by Bennett Medyn.  The first came off of a cross-crease pass from Zach Baker.  The second was a quick multi-pass situation that ended with Grady Arnold feeding him from GLE on the left.  Wayne finished out the first quarter with three more goals.

Anthony Muratore scored with a drive from behind the cage along the left crease.  Shortly thereafter, Ryan Cahill drove to the cage from behind, but this time he dumped off the pass to Billy Thomson who finished with an outside shot from the left flat.  The final goal of the quarter was scored just 0:14 later with a fast-break goal scored by long-stick Joe Camp off a feed from Reagan.  Camp finished with 2 goals with a long-stick and was instrumental on the face-off as well.  The Eagles led 4-2 at the end of the first quarter.

Craddle for a Cure In the second quarter, Wayne kept up their pressure.  Pal-Mac scored the first goal with a loose ball on the crease that Alex Wahl converted into a goal.  Wayne responded with another drive to GLE followed by a dump to the flat.  Once again Cahill initiated the drive from behind and passed off to Thomson on the flat.  The Red Raiders scored their last goal of the half during extra-man offense with an outside shot from Evan Hurlbutt (assisted by Baker).  Similar to the first quarter, Wayne finished off the second quarter with three unanswered goals.

Reagan scored again with a sweep along the top and a midrange shot from the center.  Seven seconds later, they added another off a face-off fast-break.  After three quick passes, Cahill found Camp on the inside near the top of the crease.  The final goal of the half was another Cahill feed, this time to Spencer Quinn.  Cahill was the leading scorer for the Eagles with 2g-7a.  Wayne led 8-4 at the half. In the second half, Wayne outscored Pal-Mac 3-2 in the third and 6-3 in the fourth quarters.
