West Genesee Defeats Penfield

- West Genesee scored six of the first eight goals in their 13-10 win over Penfield.  The Wildcats were led in scoring by Max Rosa with 6g.  Although the Patriots kept the game close and forced a tie three times, West Genesee held control through most of the second half.  In the fourth quarter, Penfield never got closer than two.

WG vs Penfield Penfield started off the scoring with Jason Beradicurti assisting Dan Taddeo 1:06 into the game.  West Genesee responded with the next three goals spanning into the second quarter.  The Wildcats held the Patriots scoreless for just over 12 minutes.  Bill Fisher, Rosa and Kevin Sheehan scored the three West Genesee goals.  Penfield’s second goal was an unassisted goal by Jacob Emmick to put the game at 3-2 West Genesee.

The Wildcats went on another three-goal streak to increase their lead to 6-2 with 8:19 remaining in the second quarter.  Penfield, not to be held down, responded with four unanswered goals to force the tie at 6-6.  Emmick (2) and Taddeo were joined by Jack Cummings in the scoring streak.  Halftime saw the game tied at 6.

In the third quarter West Genesee really pulled ahead.  They outscored Penfield 5-3 to pull ahead 11-9 going into the final 12 minutes.  Rosa scored five of the last six goals for West Genesee.  The Patriots held close through the early part of the third quarter, forcing another tie at 7-7.  However, as the Wildcats began to pull away, the Patriots could not keep pace.  In the cage for Penfield, Connor Chans recorded 8 saves.
