In the second quarter, HFL scored the first goal to pull within two.  Pluta scored his second goal off an unsettled situation were he pushed the ball up to the crease and scored for the Cougars.  Pal-Mac took over the scoring and added another five while holding HFL scoreless.  Blazey added two more with Brian Burger, Joe Lyko and Gallina scoring the remaining three.  Pal-Mac led 10-3 at the half.  HFL attempted to push a comeback in the third quarter and outscored Pal-Mac 5-2.  Pal-Mac WinsHowever, the defense stepped up and held the lead for the remainder of the game.  The Cougars never got closer than 4 (12-8 to end the quarter).  Pal-Mac goalie, Jared Hurlbutt finished the game with 11 saves (7 of which were in the third quarter).  He was named to the All Tournament team.  Of the five goals, three were scored on unsettled or uneven play.  Mapstone scored off a fast-break goal (assisted by Henry Millard) as well as a man-up goal.  Jonathan Roth also scored on a man-up goal with a strong single player effort to the cage.

In the final quarter, Pal-Mac scored the first four goals of the quarter to take their largest lead of the game.  The Cougars scored the final three goals of the game.  Mapstone scored his final goal with another unsettled loose ball on the crease.  The final goal of the game was face-off fast-break by Roth.  Overall, only 3 of HFL’s 11 goals were scored in settled even-man offense.  Rounding out the All-Tournament team were Eli Chalmers (Aquinas) and Jon Ecker (Wayne).  A link to the full Class C All Tournament Team in HERE.
