Brighton Takes Fairport in OT

- NOTES:  In the closest contest of the night, Brighton forced overtime with only 0:04 remaining in regulation on their way to defeating Fairport 10-9. This was the first time that the Barons had defeated the Red Raiders (who have won the last five meetings). The Red Raiders continue to struggle, having lost their last five contests including the last two games in overtime.

Fairport at Brighton

Fairport, who is currently 5-7, have put together a tough schedule this season. They scheduled out of section games against Ithaca (won), West Genesee (loss), Orchard Park (won) and J-D (loss). There in county games are also tough with games against both currently undefeated teams (Pittsford and Victor); as well as the defending Sectional Champions for Class B (Victor) and Class C (Penn Yan). The Red Raiders are the defending Champions for Class A after their comeback against Pittsford in the finals last season.

Brighton, who is currently 7-5, have been bouncing back and forth this season with close contests and blowouts. Like Fairport, Brighton has two overtime games this season but unlike the Red Raiders they have won both (Schroeder). The Barons snapped their two game losing streak with the overtime win and look to carry on the momentum against Hilton on Tuesday.
In today's contest the Barons led for three quarters before Fairport made a strong push in the fourth quarter to take their first lead of the game. The Red Raiders scored the first three goals to the fourth quarter to tie the game and take a two goal lead with 6:30 remaining. Brighton's Max Coke scored with 2:06 remaining to bring the game to within one. Coke finished with 5g-1a and along with Brady McDermott (also 5g-1a) were demonstrative forces for the Barons. Fairport won the ensuing face-off and stalled the ball; however Brighton got the ball back and brought it up-field. With time running down, McDermott drove to the cage and scored with only 0:04 on the clock. Fairport won the final face off, but their shot went wide.
