Brighton Wins in Overtime Again

- Brighton fought back from a two goal deficit at the end of the third quarter to defeat Pittsford in overtime 10-9.  The Barons and Panthers played a back and forth game with both teams leading before Pittsford took a two goal lead at the end of the third quarter. Brighton’s defense held the Panthers scoreless for the final 13 minutes of regulation and another 3 minutes in overtime.

Pittsford opened up the scoring with Harrison Cross assisting Danny Judge with 5:24 left in the first quarter. Brighton responded with two goals to take their first lead of the game.  Najeeb Awab and Olin Stanat scored for the Barons.  Both teams added one more goal in the first quarter with Sonny Imburgia scoring for Pittsford and Awad adding his second for the Barons.  Brighton led 3-2 after 12 minutes.

In the second, Pittsford came out swinging.  They scored three unanswered goals (Dumont x2 and Imburgia) to take a 5-3 lead.  Brighton added the final goal to pull back within one going into halftime.  The third quarter was the highest scoring of the quarters.  Pittsford added four and Brighton added three within 12 minutes.  Brighton’s Lukas Stanat scored two of the goals that helped Brighton tie the game at 7-7 with 4:49 left in the third.  Pittsford’s final two goals were both scored before the quarter’s end.  Ryan Dumont scored his third of the game off a feed from Ben DiGiovanni first and then Imburgia scored his third of the game with 1:27 remaining.  Pittsford led 9-7 at the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth, Brighton scored two goals to tie the game in the first five minutes.  L. Stanat cored his third with 7:48 left and then 41 seconds later, Devin Everett scored the final tying goal off a feed from Owen Ronchetti.  In the final seven minutes neither team could put one in the back of the net.  In overtime, both teams had attempts at the cage.  Pittsford goalie Brecken Catalano recorded 2 of his 14 saves in overtime, but with 0:47 left in the first overtime period, Casey McDermott scored unassisted to give Brighton the win.  This is the second overtime win of the season for Brighton (12-11 over CBA).
