Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: The championship games are now set for Classes B and C. In the Class B bracket, #1 Victor defeated #5 Schroeder 7-4 and #2 Thomas defeated #3 McQuaid Jesuit 16-7. In the Class D bracket, #1 Penn Yan defeated #5 Haverling 12-4 and #6 Aquinas had upset #2 Gananda 16-7.

Top seeded Victor held fifth seeded Schroeder scoreless for 39 minutes spanning all four quarters to defeat the Warriors 7-4.  Schroeder had defeated fourth seeded Irondequoit 10-7 to make the Semi-Finals for the first time since 2016.  Victor has now made the Finals for the sixth straight time. Second seeded Webster Thomas came out and dominated in their 16-7 win over third seeded McQuaid Jesuit.  The Titans scored six unanswered in the first quarter and increased their lead to 11-2 at the end of the first half.  In the second half, McQuaid Jesuit just couldn’t make up the difference.  Thomas last made the Finals when they won the Class B Tournament in 2016. Story Continues...

Aquinas, seeded sixth the in Class D tournament beat both the second seeded Gananda and the third seeded Pal-Mac to punch their ticket to the championships where they will face Penn Yan. Although the game was close in the first quarter and ended in a 4-4 tie, Aquinas scored six unanswered goals on their way to a 16-7 win at HF-L. Senior midfielder Casey Hochheimer led the Little Irish with six goals and Jonathan Parrinello (3g-2a) and Eli Chalmers (2g-3a) each added five points. Jake Rapp had three goals for Gananda who end their season at 14-4.

Penn Yan started out slowly with a 4-1 half time lead , but took off in the second half for a 12-4 win against Haverling. Sophomore attackman Colt Smith led the Mustang effort with four goals. Conner Fingar added three more while Jeff Kinyoun recorded ten saves (71%) for the 12-5 Mustangs. Tyler Finch had 2g-1a for the Rams who end their season at 11-7. Penn Yan will seek their twenty-third Section Five Title when they play Aquinas on Wednesday.
