Penn Yan Looks for Number 25

Penn Yan 2021

Class D - Finger Lakes League

There is no doubt the Penn Yan will be looking to win their twenty-fifth Section V title this spring. The Mustangs have won every year except one since 1998. Head Coach Brian Hobart will be playing fourteen regular season games, most of which will be against Finer Lakes teams. Penn YanThe Mustangs will be playing as part of the Finger Lake League this year after many years as an Independent. In a "normal" year they would have scheduled tough competition in and out the Section as they would prepare for NYS tournament action, but there is no State tournaments this spring.

The 2020 lost season was a great disappointment for seniors Colton Smith, Jeff Kinyoun, Nick Houghtaling, Chase Bloombergs, Ryan Moon and Jon Droney who were looking for another big year. Penn Yan, with no Junior Varsity team, always have underclassmen on the team so there are fourteen players returning from the 2019 campaign. Senior attackman Ayden Mowry returns after scoring 28g-21a in 2019 as a sophomore. He plans to play a Lenoir-Rhyne next year. Griffin Emerson was a freshman in 2019, playing behind Jeff Kinyoun in goal. He has about one third of the playing time and made fifty-six saves (57%).
