Schroeder Comes Back in Fourth with Overtime Win

Webster Schroeder fought back from a four goal deficit to defeat Churchville-Chili 9-8 in the first overtime period.  The Warriors scored the final five goals (including the overtime goal) in the win.  They held the Saints scoreless for 13 minutes.

Schroeder led off the scoring with Brennan Bitely feeding Travis Dear 1:04 into the contest.  Churchville-Chili responded with  three goals before the end of the first quarter.  All three were unassisted: Patrick Mitchell, Will Zimmerman and Eli Chalmers.  Schroeder led off the second quarter as well with an unassisted goal from Nick Human.  Once again, Churchville-Chili responded with 2 more goals to finish out the half.  Churchville-Chili led 5-2 going into the break.

In the third quarter, each team added two goals and Churchville-Chili kept the three goal lead (7-4) going into the final quarter.  Austin Muscianese scored his second goal of the night to give the Saints a four goal buffer with 11:27 left in regulation; however, it was not enough.  The Warriors slowly fought back with goals from Dear and Ethan Shappee.  With 10:08 remaining in regulation, Hauman scored the first of three straight goals with a man-up goal off a feed from Tim Weisensel.  Just under a minute later and Hauman scored his second, again in man-up, this time off an assist from Dear.  The game remained tied for the final nine minutes.

Heading into overtime, Churchville-Chili was man-up as time expired and held the ball to gain possession going into overtime.  The Saints kept trying to get off a shot, but the Warrior defense stayed strong and ran out the man-down situation.  Schroeder got control of the ball and cleared it upfield.  They called a timeout and gave the ball to Hauman.  He took his defender behind the cage and beat him one-on-one for the game winning goal.  This marks the second overtime win this season for the Warriors.
