Schroeder Wins in Overtime

Schroeder improved to 5-4 with an overtime win against Penfield 8-7.  Nick Hauman scored the winning overtime goal for Schroeder.  This is the second game of the season where the Patriots have lost in overtime.  Schroeder came to dominate the first half before Penfield began a comeback in third quarter.

Penfield’s Jacob Emmick scored the game opener 1:15 into the game with an unassisted goal.  The Warriors responded with four straight goals (and six of the next seven).  Hauman (2), Ethan Shappee and Tim Weisensel scored in the stretch.  With 4:02 remaining in the second quarter, Schroeder had increased their lead  to 4 (6-2) and looked to be in control of the game.  Penfield scored the last goal of the half with Max Hoadley scoring unassisted.

The third quarter entirely belonged to Penfield with the Patriots scoring three and holding the Warriors scoreless.  In the fourth quarter, Emmick scored first to put Penfield on top for the first time since the opening goal.  However, that was the last goal for Penfield.  Webster broke their 24 minute scoring absence with the tying goal at 4:34 left in regulation.  Josh Hauman scored the tying goal off an assist from Nick Hauman.  In the final four minutes neither team could finish into the back of the net.

In overtime, Penfield won the faceoff with Josh Richiusa picking up his own ground ball (he finished 11/16 at the draw) and brought the ball upfield for the Patriots.  Penfield had one shot at the cage that missed wide before Schroder cleared the ball upfield and had their own attempt at the goal.  Hauman scored with 0:03 left in the first overtime period.
