Fairport Fights Back for Overtime Win

- Fairport fought back over the final 23 minutes of the contest to defeat Webster Thomas 8-7 in the first overtime period.  The Red Raiders held the Titans scoreless for the final 22 minutes of regulation, while scoring three goals to force the overtime.  Thomas scored the first goal and never trailed (although the score was tied 3 times) before Fairport scored the game winning overtime goal.  Kole Stuver scored his second goal of the game 1:33 into the first overtime period.  His brother Klay scored the game tying goal with 6:20 left in the fourth quarter.

Thomas’ Joe Russo finished with three goals and scored the opening 2:29 into play with an unassisted goal.  The Red Raider’s responded less than 30 seconds later with their opening goal (Alex Nicastro from Colin Peers).  Thomas scored the next two goals over four minutes with Ryan Prine and Evan Pashalidis scoring.  Fairport scored their second and Thomas their fourth to end the first quarter with Thomas leading 4-2.

In the second quarter, Fairport came out swinging and tied the game at 4-4 with the opening two quarter of the quarter.  Thomas’ response was also back to back goals to preserve their two goal leading going into halftime.  In the third quarter, Thomas scored first with Russo scoring off a feed from Stevie Katz to put the Titans up 7-4 (their largest lead of the game).  Russo’s goal with 9:35 left in the third quarter was the last Titan goal of the game.  Fairport slowly fought back to within one by the end of the third and then tied with Klay Stuver’s goal with 6:20 remaining. 

Fairport face-off man Jake Knapp finished 15/19 at the draw.  Goalie Tim Defendis recorded 5 saves for the Red Raiders.  Ethan Ruller recorded 11 saves for the Titans.

Penfield Defense Steps up in Overtime Win

- Penfield scored four unanswered goals to end the third quarter and begin the fourth quarter in their 7-6 overtime win against Victor.  Victor at PenfieldThe Patriots were down by three halfway through the third quarter before they began their scoring streak.  The fourth goal of the stretch gave Penfield the lead with 3:07 left on the clock and forced Victor to send the game into overtime.  In the first overtime period, Victor won the face-off, but could not get a shot on cage before Penfield cleared the ball upfield and scored on their first shot.  Max Hoadley scored his second goal of the game unassisted to give the win to the Patriots.

Victor started off strong with an unassisted goal from Camden Hay only 0:25 into the game.  Five minutes later, they added their second with Hay assisting Alec Russell.  The Blue Devils led 2-0 after the first quarter.  Penfield’s opening goal was also scored by Hoadley (again unassisted).  It took Penfield 17 minutes to get on the board.  Each team added one more goal before halftime with Joey Pezzimenti scoring for the Blue Devils and Jack Schlifke scoring for the Patriots.  The scored was 4-2 Victor at the half.

Victor at PenfieldVictor scored the first goal of the third quarter with TJ Brei scoring unassisted with 8:47 left on the clock.  After that goal, Victor was held scoreless for almost 19 minutes until under 2 minutes remained in regulation.  During that period, the Penfield defense held them to 5 shots and all 5 were off the cage.  During the Patriot scoring stretch, Jackson Saulpaugh scored three of the four goals with Michael Mitchell scoring the fourth.  Saulpaugh’s final goal was the go-ahead goal and scored with 3:07 remaining.  Pezzimenti’s second goal of the night sent the game into overtime with 1:39 left on the clock.

In the cage for Penfield, Travis Wagner finished with 13 recorded saves.  Defenseman Darren Enright (3) and LSM Tai Little (4) led in ground balls for the Patriots.

Pittsford Wins 7-6 in Regulation

- Pittsford and Canandaigua played a back and forth contest with neither team leading by more than two.  The Panthers won 7-6 after scoring three straight to span the third and fourth quarters.  During their scoring stretch, they held the Braves scoreless for 22 minutes.  The goal scoring was spread out for the Panthers with three players scoring two goals each (Ben DiGiovanni, Ryan Dumont and Sonny Imburgia).  Harrison Cross led in scoring with 4a on the game.

Although the game was back and forth the scoring came in runs.  Pittsford opened up with the first two goals before Canandaigua went on a three goal run to end the quarter.  Each of the five goals was scored by a different player  with the only duplication coming from Cross assisting both Pittsford goals.

In the second and third quarters, the teams alternated goals with Pittsford leading off 1:38 into the second quarter with an unassisted goal from Imburgia.  Cam Tallman responded for Canandaigua and Ryan Dumont scored for the Panthers to set the score at 4-4 going into the half.

The penultimate Canandaigua goal was  scored with 10:45 left in the third quarter with Tyler Goode adding another unassisted goal.  The Braves held the lead until Pittsford scored again 9 minutes later with Sammy Thomolaris scoring his lone goal of the night.  In the fourth quarter,  Pittsford added another 2 goals to give them the 7-5 lead into the final minute.  Mitch Pfeiffer scored his second for the Braves with 0:43 remaining, but Canandaigua could not force overtime.  In the cage for Pittsford, Brecken Catalano finished with 11 saves, including two during man-down defense in the fourth quarter to old off a late Braves push.

Spencerport Wins Second Straight

- After dropping their first five games, Spencerport is on a two game streak with big wins against Brockport (19-10) and tonight against R-H 9-7.  The Rangers scored the opening goal with Zach Edwards scoring in the first 60 second unassisted and although the game was tied twice, they never lost the lead.  Rush-Henrietta played hard in the beginning of the third with 4 out of 5 straight goals to tie the game at 6-6.  However, the Rangers came back to finish out the third up by two and hold the Royal Comets to only a single goal late in the fourth.

Edwards (3g-2a) and Jacob Zimmerman (3g) led in scoring for the Rangers.  Midfield Connor Mesh finished 10/17 at the face-off with a team leading 12 groundballs.  Defensively, Anthony Inclima (4) and Riley Schmeer (5) finished leading in takes for Spencerport.
